Cocaine and Lockdown.

One thing is for sure, we are living in unprecedented times.

Lots of change happening.

Its too early to tell what the impact will be on certain markets, including drug markets.

However we can be sure, that people wont stop taking drugs, so people wont stop selling, where there is a demand, there will always be someone that can figure out how to get it to you.

Drug dealers are some of the most resourceful and entrepreneurial people I have ever met.

Take alcohol for instance, people have been panic buying, stocking up and off licences, supermarkets are still open.  This tells us that people are worried about making sure they have enough booze, even when they know logically, they can still buy it every day.

We can assume that people have been stockpiling their favourite drug as well.  I would imagine, cannabis, cocaine and ketamine are the favs, maybe a bit of ecstasy and acid.

Lets take cocaine, chances are less of it will come into the country, but it will still come in, trust me, where there is a will there is a way.  Even if there is less, what will happen is people will either mix it more, making it go further, or put the price up.  They might have 2 prices.  Because there will always be people that will pay more for better quality.

Basically its boom time for dealers, panic buying, reduced supply = price increases.

Never been a better time to ditch the cocaine.

What’s important to you about stopping using cocaine?

What would you gain?

This is going to sound really simple, but first of all don’t buy it, don’t have it in the house.  Its easier than ever now to not socialise with people who are using cocaine and this can be one of the biggest triggers for people.  When you are with people you normally use with, you want to use.  If you see it, you will want to use.

Tell your dealer to not contact you, take the phone number off and delete all contacts associated with buying cocaine.  Given that people are panic buying, prices will go up and quality will go down, (depending on your dealer).  You will be surprised at how supportive your dealer is with this.  They are human beings after all and more than likely understand addiction, its their bag after all.

Is alcohol a trigger for you?  When you drink do you want to use cocaine?

If so, can you reduce your drinking?

Or maybe have 1 drink with a meal?

Change how you drink alcohol, so you are lessening the associating with cocaine.

Remember all of this stuff is about habit, association, so think about how you used to use, what the associations where.  People, places, times, what are you doing etc.

Certain music, still gets me going, I can hear the tune and instantly I want to take some ecstasy usually.

When you understand what motivates you about stopping using cocaine, use it, remember it.

For instance is it about being a better parent?

Being a more responsible human being? After all the cocaine trade, isn’t fair trade.

Is it about finances? How much money will you save and what will you do with the money?

Or is it about improving your mental health?  One thing is for sure, your mental health will improve if you take a break from your cocaine use, I would give it at least 3 months.
